This page explains what information REDACTED DEPT. collects on redacteddept.space, why, and who helps us handle it. We keep it to what we need to deliver files, run the store, and send email you signed up for.
What we collect
- Your email address — when you download a free book, spin the prize terminal, join a launch list, or buy something.
- What you requested, won, or bought — which free files you asked for, your prize-terminal result, and the products in your orders.
- Order records — for each purchase: your email, the products, the amount paid, the date, and Stripe’s reference numbers for the checkout and payment. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Delivery records — a log of the emails we send you (the address, the subject, and whether it was sent).
- Server logs — like most websites, our web server logs each request: IP address, browser type, the page or file requested (including download links), and the time. These logs are deleted automatically after about 14 days.
Cookies, local storage and visit counting
rd_vcookie — a random ID used only to count visits and to remember whether you’ve already liked the site. It lasts one year. It contains nothing about who you are.- To count unique visitors, we combine your IP address and browser type into a one-way code that changes every day. We don’t store the IP address itself for counting. We also count which websites sent visitors here (the site name only).
- Local storage in your own browser remembers the email you entered (so you don’t have to type it again at checkout), your prize-terminal spin, and a marker that you have visited before (used only to keep your first visit ad-free). This stays on your device.
- Advertising (Adsterra) — the site shows one ad unit (an Adsterra “Social Bar”) served by Adsterra, a third-party ad network. It is not loaded on your first visit to the site from a given browser. Adsterra states that its script may place a cookie in your browser and that it processes pseudonymous information tied to browsing events: a pseudonymous user id, your device or browser user agent, timestamps, ad impressions and ad clicks. Adsterra states that it does not collect or store personally identifiable information such as your name, email address or billing details. We do not pass your email, orders, prizes or downloads to Adsterra. See Adsterra’s privacy policy and cookies policy. Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser removes the Adsterra cookie.
- Advertising (Monetag) — the site also uses Monetag, a third-party ad network, in two ways. Every page loads a Monetag script that may display a “vignette” advertisement. The Free Downloads panel on the homepage carries one plain link, labelled “Sponsored”, reading “Partner offer”: it does nothing unless you deliberately click it, and then opens a Monetag-selected third-party advertiser site in a new tab. That site is not part of REDACTED DEPT. Monetag and the advertisers it sends you to may set cookies or use similar browser storage and receive your IP address and browser type. We do not pass your email, orders, prizes or downloads to Monetag.
- Apart from the Adsterra and Monetag advertising described above we set no advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your information.
Services that help us
- Stripe processes payments on its own checkout page. Stripe collects your card and billing details and handles them under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, the products and amount, and Stripe’s payment references.
- MailerLite keeps our mailing list. When you give us your email (free download, prize terminal, launch list or purchase), we add it to our MailerLite list along with how you signed up (and, for the prize terminal, the prize you won). Marketing emails sent through MailerLite always include an unsubscribe link.
- Zoho Mail sends our delivery emails (download links, prize claims, order confirmations) from hello@redacteddept.space, and receives your replies.
- Google Fonts — the store page loads some of its fonts from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser type when that page loads.
- Adsterra — serves the single ad unit described under Cookies above. It receives no email, order, prize or download details from us.
- Monetag — serves the vignette ad and the sponsored Partner offer link described under Cookies above. It receives no email, order, prize or download details from us.
- Our website and files are hosted on our own server.
Why we use it
- to deliver the files you bought, requested or won, and let you download them again later;
- to answer support questions and handle refunds;
- to send you emails about the archive, if you signed up — you can unsubscribe at any time;
- to keep the store secure and prevent abuse (for example, of the prize terminal or download links);
- to keep required business and tax records of sales.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept so you can re-download what you bought and so we can meet record-keeping requirements. Mailing-list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs are deleted after about 14 days.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link at the bottom of any of them.
- Ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion of your information by emailing hello@redacteddept.space from the address concerned. If you ask us to delete your data, we may need to keep basic order records where the law requires it, and you may lose access to your order page.
Children
The store is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
